February 2017 exercise - Exploration of Goat fell

February 6, 2017

The team(Including search dog Ruby and trainee search dog Caileag both @sardasouthernscotland) headed out this morning for our February exercise which involved an exploration of the Goat fell area.

The day started out mild and snowy with limited visibility but when we reached the summit of Goat fell we were treated to a superb cloud inversion giving us all spectacular views for a brief twenty minutes or so until the clag closed in around us again.
The team continued on from the summit of Goat fell and onto Stacach ridge where we all got the chance to practice some winter scrambling skills including setting up some belays for lowering on some of the steeper drops.

There are some training days when the weather doesn't play ball but then there are the days like today!
