Callout 05/09/2016

September 6, 2016

Callout 05/09/2016The team were called out at approximately 2100hrs to assist with a search for three walkers who had become lost and benighted in the Northern mountains.

Thankfully a grid reference was established and the team split into two groups, one ( including search dog Ruby) setting off from Glen Sannox and heading up to the ridge between Cir Mhor and Caisteal Abhail and the other group heading up Glen Rosa in the teams Argo Cat to the same location.

The Glen Sannox group spotted a light from one of the casualties mobile phones and was able to verify their location on the ridge.

After a short while the three casualties were found huddled together along the ridge and although tired, frightened and cold, were thankfully uninjured.

After some heating up and food, the three casualties were able to be guided down from their location to Glen Rosa where they were then transferred by Argo cat out the Glen to our team Land Rover and back to team base.

The team would like to remind anyone venturing up the hills, especially at this time of year when the days are now getting shorter, that a head torch, as well as a map/compass and the knowledge of how to use them are advised.

Picture below shows Cir Mhor with Hunters ridge to the right where the three casualties were located.

This was taken last week on a clear sunny day but last night was certainly a different story with heavy rain, wind and very little visibility.
