Last Sunday the team had planned to head up near the Rosa slabs area to conduct a ropework/climbing exercise.
Unfortunately the weather wasn't on our side for an exercise on such exposed terrain so we made the decision to head to a nearby woodland area which was ideal for a few possible incidents.
The area had some good large trees and a deep gorge so we were able to practise a tree rescue by setting up appropriate rigging and then getting team members safely up the tree to assist the casualty who had been involved in a felling accident and become stuck.
After a successful rescue we then moved over to a steep banking where a casualty had slipped and fallen down into the gorge below.
Again a rigging system was set up as a lower to get team members down and then reversed to pull them along with the casualty back up.
Thanks to a new piece of harness rescue equipment the casualty was able to sit in this and be comfortably and quickly evacuated to safety.
A very wet but successful day going over skills and allowing every team member to have a go at all the techniques.
